
The famous cancer researcher was the first one to popularize the idea that tumour growth is dependent on blood vessel growth and that anti-angiogenic therapy could someday transform cancer into a manageable chronic disease like diabetes.
He passed away at age 74, from a heart attack. He'll never get to see if this type of therapy will be successful, or have a chance to get a well-deserved (in my opinion) Nobel.
