It is kind of scary to mess with such a fundamental material of man that has been slowly evolving since Roman times. Also if it costs significantly more I'm sure it will go nowhere, however the idea of a material as prevalent as cement being a carbon sink is inspiring.

Carbonsink Concrete
One of the origonal posts on the bayblab, when it was just a babylab, was about concrete. Recently a company out of the UK has made cement that absorbs more CO2 than it produces in it's production. Essentially turning concrete into a carbon sink!
It is kind of scary to mess with such a fundamental material of man that has been slowly evolving since Roman times. Also if it costs significantly more I'm sure it will go nowhere, however the idea of a material as prevalent as cement being a carbon sink is inspiring.

That sounds great! And a great way to keep that employment rate up. Let's start building shit. How about a massive all-concrete sculpture of mother Earth? And then the rest of the solar system...
However, I have some concerns. What about biosafety? Carbon dioxide is a gas, and gas is toxic. Is all that nasty carbon dioxide gas going to leak out of the buildings and poison us? Also, in the event of a nuclear holocaust all that gas is going to be released from the rubble of our cities. And that can't be good...
